ABOUT THE CLUB

Welcome to Leeds Gorse Volleyball Club - one of the biggest, oldest, and most successful volleyball clubs in Leeds.

We are a vibrant club with Men’s, Women’s and Junior teams playing across all levels, competing in both National and Regional competitions. We have teams playing in NVL and Super League, as well as some of our most talented players now playing for Volleyball England.

We also offer social sessions every Friday for those wanting to learn a new sport, play non-competitively and simply have some fun!

How IT ALL STARTED…

A women's volleyball team with coaches posing for a photo in a gym, holding a sign that says 'Golden Ticket Cup Finals Weekend, 26th and 27th April 2025.' The team members wear purple and orange jerseys, with some kneeling and others standing behind. The gym has a volleyball net in the background.

Founded in 1973, the club is based at The Ruth Gorse Academy in Leeds City Centre and enjoys some of the best facilities in the country. The recently opened school is named after Ruth Gorse, a former PE teacher and player for Leeds VC, who was sadly lost to breast cancer.

Leeds Gorse VC and the Gorse Academies Trust have established a partnership to grow volleyball participation in Leeds. So if you are interested in giving volleyball a try, or are returning to the sport, then get in touch with us.

The club supports five men's teams and five women's teams, each playing at different levels through the National Volleyball Leagues and the Yorkshire Leagues. Additionally, we have dedicated Junior teams entered in national competitions.

Leeds Gorse VC is always open for new players of all ages and abilities, so why not come and give it a try?
